Week 8 Reading and Writing

Overall, I have really enjoyed Indian Epics. The assignments are time consuming, but I find the reading material interesting so I find myself excited to start the next readings. So far, my favorite readings have been from the Jataka Anthology because of the fairytale-type mindset of the stories.

I have found that my reading notes help a lot for my stories. When I first started doing reading notes I found a way to take notes that really helped me. I try to make at least one or more bullet point per story or episode and connect the characters to each other because the characters in Ramayana and Mahabharata can get confusing and especially how everything is related to something else. I use my reading notes every week to look back and see or remember a character, event, etc. that I really liked or connected with. I use my notes as kind of a case to go off of. Then for the weeks where I decide to plan for a story instead of write a story I do more research on what exact elements I want to include in my own interpretation of the stories.

So far I am happy with my class project but there are some things that I would like to continue editing and changing. For example, I still need to come up with a better title for my portfolio. In the end of the semester I think my portfolio will be a collection of my stories that I have liked the most. So, somehow I need to tie that in to the title of my portfolio.

I think my biggest accomplishment writing-wise in this class is writing my stories just in general. I am a PR major so I write A LOT for my classes. All I pretty much do is write. So it is fun and interesting to get back into the swing of writing creatively. I thought at first that I might struggle a little bit with coming up with stories, but the readings really help get my creative juices flowing because I am unfamiliar with the Jataka Anthology, Ramayana and Mahabharata.

So far this is my favorite image I have posted, not necessarily because of what the image looks like but because "The Turtle and The Geese" was my favorite story out of the Jataka Anthology that I read.

Looking forward, I know that I want to continue to stay ahead in the class. I know right now I am an entire week ahead and I really like that I am a week ahead because it gives me a peace of mind that if I have a super crazy and stressful week one week I can have some relief from Indian Epics if need be. Looking forward, I also know I need to play around with the appearance of my project portfolio because I don't like it as much as what I need to for my final project.

Introduction to a PR Student

Hi, my name is Chelsea Journee and I am from The Woodlands, Texas. The Woodlands is about 30 minutes north of Houston, Texas. My family and I have lived in the same house my entire life so it was a big change for me when I decided to go to college in a different state. I am currently a first semester senior (by hours) at OU. I am studying public relations and my minor is general business. On campus I am pretty involved. I am in a social sorority, I am an account manager for Lindsey + Asp (OU's student-run PR and ad agency) and I am also the treasurer for PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). (Personal Photo: My sorority family) (Personal Photo: PRSSA executive leadership outside of Gaylord Hall) I enjoy lounging around with my dogs while watching Netflix in my free-time. My dog's names are Jasper and Snickers. Jasper is a miniature dashchund that loves to lay in anyone's lap and we don't really know what Snickers is because we rescued her...

Hello all, In this post you will find my notes from The Mahabharata: Karmic Revolution an online film from YouTube. These notes are only comprised of the part B playlist . Kunti was given a special mantra from a sage, which would allow her to call upon any god that she wished. Kunti tried it out with the sun god to see if it worked and it did. Kunti was left with a child from the sun god. Kunti knew that the child was destined for greatness. She placed the child in a basket and put it in the river. Kunti's son with the sun god was a secret. No one knew about it not even her husband, the king. One day Pandu was hunting with his bow and accidentally shot and killed a couple. Before the man died he cursed Pandu and said that the second be would be come intimate with a woman something terrible would happen. This caused great pain for Pandu and he decided to leave the kingdom. Kunti mentioned to Pandu her special gift in which she could call upon any god. The god of truth was c...
