These notes are an outline of section B of the PDE version of Ramayana. When I did notes for section A I really enjoyed doing them in bullet form because for me it was easier to follow the events that took place, the character's lives and how they are all connected to each other.
King's Death:
- Bharata does not know that his brother (Rama) has been exiled and his father is dead because he has been in the kingdom of Kaikeyas with this mother's sire
- When he find out, he first has to go to his father's funeral and mourn for a couple of days
- He then goes to the forest and tries to get his brother, Rama to come back home
- Rama will not go back home so Bharata takes Rama's shoes as a gift to remember him and he doesn't go back home either or won't until Rama comes back home
In the Forest:
- Sita is abducted by an evil demon and Rama and Lakshmana have to fight it
- Rama tries to kill the demon with sharp weapons but doesn't work so they dig a pit
- Rama meets another sage who gives Rama a "shining dart of Brahma"
- Will help an archer never miss their shot
- Shurpanakha (Ravana's sister) is in love with Rama but Rama wants nothing to do with her because he is in love with his wife so he tries to set her up with his brother but she doesn't want Rama's brother
- She becomes angry and tries to go after Rama and Sita
- Ravana (Shurpanakha)'s brother seeks revenge on Rama
- He goes to Maricha (son of Thataka) to get help so they can abduct Sita
- Maricha takes the form of a golden deer to get attention from Rama
- Rama chases the deer and kills it and then Maricha speaks like Rama calling for help from Lakshmana
- Rama and Lakshmana leave Sita alone and Ravana transforms into a forest sage to go to Sita
- Jatayu (bird) has been looking over Rama, Sita and Lakshmana
- He sees Ravana with Sita
- Ravana forces Sita to go with him and tries to get her to sleep with him
- Jatayu tells Rama and Lakshmana what happened to Sita
